Durango is known for skiing, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge, picturesque mountains, river rafting, and culinary delights. But the history of this frontier town was violent, tragic, and often lonely. Just below the surface of this magical place is a dark undercurrent. Souls of former shopkeepers, railroad men, gamblers, blacksmiths, and prostitutes (known as sporting girls) still linger in the historic buildings. We have chosen three of our favorite haunted locations for this tour.

The tour starts at Perbacco Cucina Italiana (next to the train depot) located on what was once known as the "Italian Block." You'll hear about a mystery duel and tragic suicide that could explain why there are restless spirits still scaring the waitstaff. Next, you will enjoy a glass of wine at the Durango Winery while exploring the fascinating history of the space. Just a few steps away is the Subterrain, once the undertaker's, home to a haunted chessboard. We will poke around with ghost-hunting equipment to see if the dead are reaching out. The final stop is at El Moro Spirits & Tavern where you will enjoy a sweet treat and listen to the macabre tale of the biggest shootout in Durango's history (spoiler alert: it was between two lawmen). It's one of the most haunted locations downtown.

Nibble on light bites of delicious cuisine while sipping your favorite cocktail. You will hear ghost stories and history from each location, speak with the owners and staff, and indulge all your senses as you listen to some pretty wild tales from the sites where they happened! Each location has active hauntings so you never know what we might encounter! Food is included in the tour price but guests must purchase libations. 16+ years welcome but you must be 21+ to purchase alcohol. ID’s required.
